Generation Zero: My Best Job Ever

We're celebrating four years of Castle Knob Publishing with a freebie: Mike Blackstone's mini-memoir of working at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory on the proof-of-concept for a planetary roving robot. The work includes a video reconstruction of the demo that convinced the powers-that-were to fund a "real" robotic program at JPL, with the amazing results we've seen, including the Spirit, Opportunity and Curiosity rovers. Rather that publish the video as a flip-book, we've placed the entire work online. You can read the story and watch the video for free at Generation Zero: My Best Job Ever.

A Long Look at Jug Bay

November 2012 brings our latest work from our newest author, even though he didn't know it at the time. Chris Swarth was Director of the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary from 1989 thru 2012. His book, A Long Look at Jug Bay, is a compilation of the articles he wrote over 23 years for the Sanctuary's newsletter. For more information see the main article.

I Saw Them Ride Away

In September 2009, we published I Saw Them Ride Away, the memoir of Harry Arthur Gant. He was a cowboy in the 1890s and a pioneering cinematographer in the silent film era. This memoir spans two of the most fascinating parts of America's past. For more information see the main article.

Code of the West: The Right Way to Act

May 2011 brings our latest work from our newest author. J. Verl Silvester grew up in the West and the Code of the West runs though his veins. In this work he explains what the Code is, how it helps us know how to act, and tells stories of his life as a cowboy, mountain man, stunt man and actor. For more information see the main article.

The Making of "I Saw Them Ride Away"

The publishing of I Saw Them Ride Away was an adventure in its own right. This slim volume tells how we checked the facts behind Harry Gant's memoir, and discovered a "missing chapter". Along the way, we learned many lessons about using the internet to verify the most obscure facts, and to make connections with real people. For more information, see the main article.

Marie and Claude

April 29, 2009 marks the debut of Castle Knob Publishing. We're pleased to announce the publication of our first title, Marie and Claude. For a description and other details, see the main article.
